I wasn’t looking forward to upgrading 10.4’s default PHP 4 installation.  A project we’re working on requires that we take advantage of some of the perks that PHP 5 offers, but my brief experience with attempting to do such things can sometimes get very nasty.

However, thanks to Mark Liyanage’s package and instructions, I was able to upgrade to PHP5 quickly and with no hassle.  It even got the GD lib (and some other ones) up and running.
