We use HP’s YTD program to generate variable data print jobs. It’s a pretty nice plug in that integrates well with Adobe CS3, but I had some problems with it after installation.

I installed the YTD plugin using the administrator account (since doing so on any other account throws an error) but when the user would attempt to use the program under their own account, it would return:

YTD Imposition folder missing. Please reinstall YTD.

After reinstalling twice, I took a dive into the plugin’s folder on the disk. Lo and behold, the permissions for all the YTD folders had permissions set only for the administrator. After setting the appropriate perms, everything worked very well. I just can’t figure why a program that costs $500 wouldn’t automatically set those…
